Table scraps

I'm not really into giving my girls any table scraps but, when I do it is always after I have finished eating first. Not giving them anything until you are done teaches them to have manners and self control. And if you want to take it even further, it shows them that the pack leader (s) eat first!

Another thing about this, I really don't like calling it table scraps because really, I always save them the best parts of everything. :)

Dogs will be dogs

I always have fresh brita water for my girls. Yet they always seem to want to drink the dirty water from outside! The rain water that's in a little hole that really makes it dirt water, water in the water dish that has leaves. It just always seems like they love the dirty water more then the fresh water from inside. I guess dogs will be dogs :)

Both of my girls were rescued

The first my brother found out on the streets of a bad area and knew to bring her to me. She is almost 2 years old now and is a Pit Bull. She is the sweetest and makes friends everywhere she goes. She was very small and under weight but, I was able to take care of that in no time.  :)


The other I fell in love with at the shelter that I was volunteering at (not the first time that had happened).


She is a Catahoula Leopard Hound and is a little over a year now.She was in really bad shape when I first got her, she had kennel paw, food aggressiveness towards other animals and also didn't know how to play with other dogs or toys. Her whole life before me was in a kennel (hence the kennel paw) and the only thing in her food or water bowl was her own feces.  I gave her the same diet that I gave my first girl and it didn't take long for her to be at her ideal weight. She still eats like its going out of style but I have a special food bowl that's been keeping her from just swallowing the food and devouring it. You can barely tell that she had kennel paw as bad as she did, it just fixed its self with time and lots of exercise of course. I remember when she couldn't even get on the couch but now, its like night and day. :)

I have always loved dogs so it only made sense to work with them. I went to school, graduated and I'm now able to say that I'm a certified dog trainer :) I love the feeling of being able to help with a problem that really, isn't a problem. Sometimes dogs aren't doing what you ask of them because they haven't been given the direction correctly in a way that they can understand.
